East Perth is a thriving place for business

CVW Accounting is located in East Perth

CVW Accounting has been based in East Perth since June 2008. How much do you know about the suburb?

Part of the City of Perth, East Perth runs from the edge of the Swan River at Langley Park, up along Lord Street until it reaches the railway line. The suburb then follows the railway line up and East parade until Gardiner Street where it’s boundary bumps back in to the river near Banks Reserve. Then it runs around the river passing Gloucester Park and the start of the Causeway back to Langley Park.

The suburb includes residential, commercial, small and big business, government offices and recreational space as well as rail and major roads in and out of the city.

Little known facts about East Perth

Did you know the area was used for industrial purposes in the early twentieth century?

The Gas Works and Power Station as well as railway yard and engine sheds were in full swing at this time.

The old East Perth railway yard and engine sheds were removed in the 1960s and redeveloped into Perth’s railway headquarters. Now, the area is a hub for country and interstate rail and coach bus services.

Also, the decommissioned East Perth Power Station building has been tagged for renovation.

In the 1980s the majority of the residential estate on the western side of Lord Street comprised of commercial operations.

According to the 2016 Census there were 10,596 people in East Perth from a variety of backgrounds.

What you will find in East Perth

Obviously CVW Accounting is located on Lord Street, near the corner of Wellington Street.

However it is also home to;

East Perth cemeteries

Established in in 1829, this site was the first established Swan River Colony cemetery. An estimated 10,000 people were buried in seven independently managed sections between 1829 and 1919. Thus, the reason it is now known as ‘East Perth cemeteries’.

The Western Australian Cricket Association ground or WACA as it is more commonly known has been WA’s ‘home of cricket’ since the early 1890s. Apparently the WACA pitch is known as the quickest and bounciest in the world.

Gloucester Park

Gloucester Park is Perth’s harness racing course not far from the WACA. It’s a popular attraction that has been in operation since the 1930s.

Cafes and restaurants

The suburb is also home to numerous popular eateries, some of which the CVW Accounting team have visited and enjoyed but of course not all.
