Superannuation advice

CVW Accounting is qualified to provide superannuation advice

CVW Accounting are qualified to provide superannuation advice

In mid 2016, the rules changed regarding accountants and the provision of superannuation advice.

CVW Accounting understand the synergy between providing sound financial and accounting advice plus advice about superannuation.

In late 2016, CVW Accounting staff obtained training and accreditation to provide continuity of services to existing and new clients.

The new Superannuation advice regulation

To provide advice on establishing and/or winding up of a self-managed superannuation fund, accountants must now be RG146 compliant.

According to the regulation;

Any person advising on self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs) must complete, as a minimum, the Tier 1 training requirements for superannuation. To comply with the training requirements, the adviser must have knowledge of all superannuation products, even when the adviser is advising only on one superannuation product (e.g. SMSFs).’(RG146.43)

The training

The training involved 30 hours of study, training and assessment. Training topics ranged from;

  • knowledge about the economic environment
  • operation of financial markets and products
  • understanding the Australian Superannuation System
  • investing in, contributing to and withdrawing from super funds
  • superannuation regulations and compliance

The CVW Accounting team completed the nationally recognised training through Financial Education Professionals in November 2016.
